AEP Ohio Wants to Raise Your Electric Bill
Adding to the pain from a recent 36% jump in the Standard Service Offer Price. If approved, a typical AEP residential consumer’s annual bill could go up by nearly $50.
AEP Ohio has asked the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to raise rates to its 1.3 million residential consumers. If approved, the proposal would increase a typical residential consumer’s bill by about $4 a month or nearly $50 annually.
These higher distribution rates would directly raise the “delivery” portion of your electric bill, which are the costs you must pay regardless of your electricity supplier. Other parts of your bill include transmission and supply charges.
OCC is Already on the Case
The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC), the state’s designated advocate for residential utility consumers, has formally intervened to protect the interests of AEP Ohio’s residential customers.
We are bringing a team of experts together to carefully review AEP Ohio’s proposal. OCC’s objective is to ensure residential consumers pay only necessary and prudent costs for safe and reliable electricity service.
You can help. Your voice as a consumer is crucial. Making your opinion known can make a difference in the PUCO’s final decision.
